Save the Date! -- Ohio Connecting to Collections Regional Meetings

Dear local history leaders and OAHSM members,

In January 2010, the Ohio Connecting to Collections survey was distributed to over 800 institutions statewide responsible for preserving Ohio’s cultural heritage. The results from the survey are in and we want to share them with you.

We are inviting you and other key decision-makers from Ohio’s local historical societies and museums, as well as libraries, archives, and cultural heritage institutions to one of a series of regional meetings around Ohio.  At a meeting, you'll discuss the findings of the Connecting to Collections project, and future directions for artifact preservation and care of archival materials in our state

Save the date a meeting near you:
  • July 15, 2010 National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, Cincinnati
  • July 20, 2010 Athens Public Library, Athens
  • July 21, 2010 Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware
  • July 26, 2010 Bedford Historical Society, Bedford
  • July 29, 2010 Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green
All meetings will run from 1 - 4pm, and are free and open to the public.

Specific meeting details and registration instructions will be posted to this blog as they become available.

In addition to discovering the survey’s results, you will be asked to assist in prioritizing the strategic goals and initiatives to be included in the Ohio Heritage Strategic Plan.  We hope to use comments from the regional meetings and the strategic plan to prepare for a Connecting to Collections Implementation grant.

The Ohio Heritage Partnership is a collaborative effort of the State Library of Ohio and the Ohio Historical Society, with project support from the Intermuseum Conservation Association and is funded by an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Connecting to Collections Statewide Preservation Planning Grant.
