The Uhrichsville Clay Museum, which is operated by the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum, has been robbed twice recently. Theives have taken more than 50 plus sewer pipe folk art items such as dogs, tree trunk lamps, tree truck planters, frogs, lions, miniature shoe sets, marbles, and other artifacts.
The stolen artfiacts are easily identifiable. They look like hand made clay items with a very shiny dark glaze. The missing items are examples of local folk art and irreplaceable and very valuable.
If anyone comes to your museum offering to sell these type of items to you, please contact Wendy Zucal, Director of the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum at (330) 340-1445. Please make note of the physical description of the seller (height, weight, build, hair color, sound of voice, etc.) and, if possible, get the seller's name, address, phone number, email, or any other information that could lead law enforcement and the museum to the stolen items.
Safety first always! If it's safe for you to gather information about the sellers of these stolen items, please do. If not, then don't. In any case, please note the physical description of the seller and contact Wendy at the Dennison RR Depot Museum (that number again, 330-340-1445). Thank you!
