Grantwriting and Volunteer Workshops at Dennison RR Depot Museum

The Dennison Railroad Depot Museum presents a day of business-building workshops in October. Attend one or both workshops!

Comprehensive Grantwriting Strategies and
How to Engage the Community and Build Volunteer Support

When: Wednesday, October 14, 2009. Comprehensive Grantwriting Strategy from 8am to noon. How to Engage the Community and Build Volunteer Support from 1 to 5 p.m.

Where: Dennison Railroad Depot Museum 400 Center Street, Dennison, Ohio. Dennison is located where state routes 250, 800 and 36 meet. Take the Dennison Exit off of US Route 250, go south on Second Street to Center Street, turn left. For directions, go to: http://www.dennisondepot.org/

Cost: $150 per person for both sessions or $100 per person for one session. Includes workshop supplies and binder with all handouts. Morning session includes continental breakfast; afternoon session includes refreshments. Lunch is not included but is easily available in the Depot at Trax Diner.

Description: How to Engage the Community and Build Volunteer Support No organization can exist without the support of its community. But how do you get the community to become stakeholders, committing their time and energy to your efforts? How do you create a strong community backbone of support and network of communication? This workshop will guide you through this important process with helpful tips that can make your organization stronger. Volunteers of all age groups and all backgrounds are important to the success of your institution. Let us teach you how to create or improve your existing volunteer structure, and make the community a strong and valuable partner.

If you have ever found yourself without the volunteers you need or the community support you require to grow and improve, this workshop is for you!

Details about both workshops: Workshops are conducted in small groups allowing plenty of time for questions, discussions and feedback. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring their project ideas to this very hands-on workshop. Both workshops will be conducted by Executive Director Wendy Zucal. Zucal has been writing grants for over 20 years with great success, and has experience teaching a variety of grant writing and community development workshops. She is a graduate of Marietta College and Carnegie Mellon University, Leadership Tuscarawas and Dale Carnegie. She currently serves on the Tuscarawas County Community Improvement Corporation and the Twin City Chamber, formerly on the Tuscarawas County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and helped to create the Historic Center Street Association.
